Today, Apple unveiled its “AI for the rest of us.” Critics called it dull and uneventful. We believe this may be too simplistic.
Most major technological adoptions have historically been led by industries and corporates, with bigger wallets, to drive R&D spend. Widespread adoption by consumers typically follows. There are ~7 billion smart phone users and 2.2 billion iPhone users. What price would you pay for greater efficiency to be able to use technology in ways previously unavailable, with your data, storage, across workflows, memories, and relationships?
Our discussions with people of varying ages, suggests a high price.
AI tools and functionality could unleash a product replacement cycle for 2.2 billion iPhone users around the world. In the US, ~200 million have TikTok and spend ~55 minutes per day on average. Why? The algorithm is efficient at delivering what you want. People like it.
We haven’t seen anything comparable across years of personal data and devices, free of advertising interference. Apple might define this category for consumers, as it has other products. This could unleash the next generation of Apps and instead of adding an 81st, you might only need 10.
